Yamaha R1 (5JJ)

Yamaha R1 (5JJ)

NOW RESERVED.

A rare opportunity to acquire perhaps one of the lowest mileage 5JJs in the UK. Showing just 1694 miles from new, and presented in stunning unmodified condition, this really is a superb example of a bike that absolutely defines the modern inline four superbike. An apex predator.

Early R1's have always been desirable machines, with demand steadily rising - particularly for low mileage, standard bikes. In terms of usable, exciting modern classics that are set to continue increasing in value, 1998-2003 YZF-R1s remain hard to beat.

The 5JJ, a subtle evolution of the 4XV, is in many ways a better bike than it's earlier sibling. Styling was tweaked – a sharper nose fairing, black wheels and titanium-finish silencer being the most obvious changes. Extra bracing around the headstock and swingarm pivot strengthened the frame, while upgraded forks and a stronger bottom yoke improved front end feel. Ignition timing, fuelling and the EXUP valve were all reworked, as were the front discs which were made thinner and lighter. Overall weight was reduced by 2kg, while the mechanical mods helped smooth delivery of the claimed 150bhp.

It is in so many ways the ultimate incarnation of the R1, and a joy to experience today.

This particular bike, first registered in 06/07/2001 by Garlands Motorcycles of Pembrokeshire, has been clearly cherished by a handful of previous owners (5 in total). Beautiful in the iconic blue/white colourway, it benefits from a fully documented history, with all original handbooks (in unmarked condition), and 2 keys (including 1 unused and still packaged).

Cosmetically, it is as you would expect for a bike with so few miles - and we can't tell you how rare that it for an R1 of this age, many of which were enjoyed 'enthusiastically'.

Opportunities to secure a bike like this don't come along very often, and we would suggest making a prompt enquiry if you're interested.

Please note: All bikes undergo a comprehensive inspection prior to sale, and are offered HPI clear. Nationwide delivery available. Buy with total confidence.
