We're delighted to present this remarkable and forensically restored 1983 Maico 490 Sand Spider, offered unused (zero fuel) since the work was carried out. It goes without saying that this is a rare opportunity, and the bike must be one of the very best available anywhere in the world.
 
It is simply breathtaking, essentially remanufactured with a great deal of passion, attention to detail and expense - the brief being to keep it as close to standard as possible. Components from Ohlins, Eibach, Magura, Clarke Racing, Supersprox and others complete a truly one-off bike. The engine was rebuilt using many NOS parts, some of which (like the cases, pistons and rods) are extremely rare in their own right. Naturally, it will need to be run in by the new owner given that it is essentially zero hours.
 
The Maico 490 is an iconic motorcycle that sends shivers down the spine. Indeed, since acquiring this bike from a brilliant and trusted client, we've heard some great stories about these legendary machines. This 1983 example is one of the very last.
